Live-in childcare

Hi There! I am new to this site, and I am working on getting the word out to as many parents as possible about a unique form of childcare!
Hosting an Au Pair is a great option for busy parents.
What is an Au Pair?
He or She is a young person from overseas b/t the ages of 18-26 who spends a year in the US living with a host family and studying at a post secondary institution. The priorties of both the Au Pair and Host Family are the same. The Au Pair is living in the US to improve English skills, learn about American culture, and immerse in American family life while caring for children. The Host family wants to enrich their lives and the lives of their children through a unique cultural experience and have quality, flexible, and affordable childcare.
If you are interested in learning more about this unique form of childcare, or sharing your thoughts about childcare in general, please respond to this post. Or cantact me directly @ (614)204-5693

I agree I did look into getting an Au Pair, but we chose a local route because of the initial out of pocket cost to bring her here. All of the recommended sites/Agency´s the out of pocket/ up front costs were in the high $8,000- $10,000 but the best part is at least you have a guaranteed person for at least a year!! :)
I think its the best route to take for any parents who have more than 1 child that would need fulltime daycare.

Hi Antoinette,
Thanks for your response. I´m glad you found the right childcare for your family. I too had a local live-in for a while and she was great. And our au pair is great also!! I´m not sure what agencies you looked at. But the up front costs for our agency are under $8000. They run specials all the time which takes the cost down even more. If you use child care for the full 45 hours a week which is allowed, that´s about $7.00 an hour. Our local sitters charge $8.00 - $10.00 hourly. Even though you have the upfront costs, when we looked at it that way, it just makes sense.
